Age of Dragons

A Second Mission (Episode 29)

Leech’s Journal

Entry #1:
Now departed the ancient tombs and secret hideout of the serpentfolk. Headed southwest for Waterdeep in order to report back to the council.

Entry #2:
Several days into our travels we happened upon a group of nearly two dozen kobolds and lizardfolk blocking the trail. They were led by a charismatic half-red dragon-man and they expected to be paid for allowing us safe passage. We were in no mood for any sort of negotiations and the situation quickly dissolved, blood was soon spilt, most of it theirs. Burned caravans have littered the roadside over the past several days, and combined with these sort of vagabonds we discovered today a sense of lawlessness seems to permeate the countryside.

Entry #3:
Tonight we came under attack after the fall of darkness. Situation grew dire very quickly as a deliberate attempt was made to apparently extinguish our very existence. The attack was led by a half-blue dragon-man and included 6 other black cloaked men. Then shortly after the attack began the sounds of flapping leathery wings could be heard emanating from the darkness beyond our immediate sight. Our nerves took over from there as a paranoia overcame the lot of us. Our suspicions were soon confirmed as a large blue dragon made itself known as it appeared from the surrounding darkness. We count ourselves fortunate to have survived.

Entry #4:
Upon arriving in Waterdeep after nearly a weeks journey we were quickly made aware of the council’s wishes for us to immediately head north in search of the Draakhorn. It’s deep tone had been noted to sound several times after our previous departure east and Lady Dala’s concern, along with the councils, has grown. With only a days rest we were quickly outfitted with cold weather gear and other necessary supplies before being taken to the dock ward where we first laid eyes upon the ship we would soon sail northward, the Frostskimmr. Captain Lerustah Half-face quickly introduced himself before ushering us aboard. It was not lost on any of us that the captain had apparently earned his name from the scarred right half of his face he now bares from an unfortunate frostbite suffered years ago. Now politely covering the nasty scars with his leather hood not only to keep his face warm, but undoubtedly as to not frighten any of the local children as well. The ship Frostskimmr, a light longship with a shallow draft, is designed with a single sail and can also be oared when necessary. The captain assures us that the sixty-foot vessel is perfect for picking a course through the close-packed ice of the northern waters, yet is light enough to be lifted by its forty crew members if it becomes hemmed in by ice. The ship is open to the air, but apparently the crew rig sailcloth shelters across the deck to keep the wind and sleet at bay, and to hold in some warmth during the cold journeys.

Entry #5:
Lady Dala has informed us of an individual name Maccath the Crimson, who belonged to the Arcane Brotherhood and had apparently set out on an expedition north nearly three years ago but has not been heard from since! Maccath had apparently been reporting to the Hosttower by way of sending spells before she disappeared, but her last report spoke of seeing ice hunters paddling their sealskin boats toward a huge iceberg flattened like a plateau across its surface, but ringed with icy peaks. She intended to follow, but was never heard from again. Scrying and other magical means to locate her have proven unsuccessful, yet her ship was located adrift and heavily damaged. Some of her crew were also seen dead, but no sign of the tiefling sorcerer was ever found. It is believed that if Maccath is still alive she may be able to provide information regarding the Draakhorn. It is armed with this information that we are finally ready to set sail northward to the Sea of Moving Ice…

Snake Pits (Episode 28)

Urso’s Journal

Entry #1:
Investigated the cylindrical pits inside the circular chamber and found several collections of copper, silver, and gold coins as well as a small vial of some strange liquid we don’t recognize.

Entry #2:
Moved on through the southern door and into a long hall trapped with a pressure plate. Arrow holes could be seen dotting the lower part of the walls throughout, very thankful we noticed them.

Entry #3:
Beyond we discovered a secret door at the end of the hall which was marked with an archway worked into the stone work, strange, but easy to find.

Entry #4:
Discovered what appears to be prison cells beyond the secret door with a doorway to our right exiting the prison chamber. The prison appears to be empty.

Entry #5:
Door lead to another hall with a large chamber to our left. Stone serpents along the east and west walls, their open mouths guttering green flame, the effect creating a very eerie scene indeed. Soon we noticed yuan-ti and lizardfolk standing in the shadows of the flickering green flames, awaiting our arrival and poised to ambush anyone unsuspecting. Luckily some of us took note, and we avoided a scenario that could have turned ugly very quickly. Then a large snake with arms was spotted laying quietly toward the back of the chamber, but soon started to slither forward and then began to speak. The strange snake-like creature seemed willing to strike a bargain. He offered us the dwarf Varram who lay near an alter at the front of the chamber in exchange for us leaving peacefully without any further blood shed. It was an offer too good to refuse and we quickly accepted. We were then informed that the dwarf was under very strong yuan-ti magic, and that he would most likely regain consciousness over the coming hours, or perhaps the next day.

Entry #6:
We’ve made our way out of the tomb and now set camp outside near the giant statues that protect the complexes entrance. We are trying to revive the dwarf as we set the night watch. Tomorrow we make for Waterdeep to report to the council what we have found.

The Secret Tunnel (Episode 27)

Ghidorah’s Journal

Entry #1:
After discovering the secret tunnels beyond the tomb we decide to return to the large dining hall with the silent and mysterious hooded figures. It was there that we descended another stairway to the south where we discovered a dumbwaiter smashed upon the stairwell with a dark shaft ascending in the ceiling above. Carefully we rummaged through the destroyed remains of the dumbwaiter before cautiously approaching the door at the bottom of the stairs. It was there that we noted another message written in chalk upon the door, this one reading simply “DANGER”. Feeling many of the messages we had spotted thus far always seemed to be accurate we decided to knock but it was met with no response, just simple silence. Then Navarro noted that the door was spiked shut on the floor. We decided to turn and leave heeding the chalk message reading “DANGER”.

Entry #2:
We’ve returned to the secret passage and begin to descend the dark stairwell beyond, our path lit only by Navarro’s light spell, a beacon to whoever, or whatever, might lay in wait beyond.

Entry #3:
The walls and floor drip with moisture and slime as we came upon a stone bridge crossing a nearly forty-foot chasm below. It was there that we came under attack from more lizardfolk lying in wait. Several of us nearly falling to our death but luckily catching the ledge and managing to pull ourselves up. We disposed of our enemy but not before discovering two mysterious looking snake-people who possessed the human form but their flesh covered in reptilian flesh and the head of a snake! We wonder if these mysterious and strange being may have been the ones attempting to influence our thoughts during the fight?

Entry #4:
We proceed across the chasm to discover yet another descending stairwell along with another passage heading south into the darkness. We make the decision to process straight ahead up another short passage of stairs. It is there that we discover a large chamber with carvings of statues upon each wall. Two of the statues seem to contain gem stones in the eyes of the statues and sets of plate armor lying at their feet as though some sort of tribute. But as we enter we discover the true meaning of it all as the small holes at the bottom of the walls and statues begin to slither with small snakes that begin filling the suits of armor, and then the armor began to rise up, animated from its slithery occupants, undoubtedly some foul form of magic! The armored warrior proved quick, well armored, and difficult to strike true, but we soon prevailed using the enchanted weapons we discovered in the dragon’s hoard in Skyreach Castle.

Entry #5:
A door sits in the southwest wall of this large chamber. But before investigating further we must mend our battle wounds, and pry those gems from the statues eyes. The gems look to be quite valuable!

Entry #6:
We’ve still failed to discover the whereabouts of the missing dwarf Varram the White, but hope to find answers deeper within…

The Tomb - part II (Episode 26)

Urso’s Journal

Entry #1:
Discovered a strange two strange triangular chambers. The first seemed to be a tomb with six sarcophagus’ behind large tapestries. The second was what seemed to be an ancient library with a ghostly librarian or guardian? The entity actually spoke to us and seemed distraught that all the books were missing! The shelves had been empty and dusty for what must have been a very long time however, how could she not have noticed? Luckily she vanished however, so we quickly moved on before her distress perhaps turned to anger.

Entry #2:
Throne room beyond triangular chambers! Coins litter the floor of the room at the foot of the throne lying upon a cloud-like dias. Upon the large throne sits a twelve-foot tall regal and well muscled male humanoid with a flowing white beard and a purple toga. We offer tribute which we add to the piles of coins and jewels at the foot of the throne, but only after the figure spoke the following words: “Ye who seek Diderius insight must first furnish tribute, that Diderius might work his mighty magic. Lay such tribute at my feet or depart.” Soon after Navarro made his way to a door to our left and we quickly departed, partly confused at what, or who, we had just witnessed sitting upon the throne since it seemed to always be watching us but spoke very little. Strange!!

Entry #3:
The door led to a stairwell down and it was upon the outside of this door that we noticed the words “? Danger” written in chalk. Down below we discovered another large chamber that must have served as a dining hall long ago given its tables and chairs. To our left heading south was yet another stairway leading downward and it appears there may be a door with more words written in chalk. But it was the northern most table to our right (north) that immediately caught our attention, it was there that five strange hooded figures sat unmoving as we entered. They seemed to ignore us as a whole but answered a few short questions, yet they seemed completely removed from our situation and unemotional in any way. We moved beyond the table to the north where Navarro spotted a door which he soon opened. On my way to the door as I squeezed between the wall and chairs I attempted to take a peek deep into the hooded cowl of one of the individuals sitting at the table. It appeared that the individual had a thick beard of some sort, and I was filled with an unsettling discomfort. The strange hood figures have admitted that they were given orders to wait here and have led us to believe that Varram has failed to return thus far, but that is all we are able to ascertain.

Entry #4:
A short hall beyond the door leads to the west where we discover a very large chamber with what appears to be an empty pool at the far end with a stone sluice running to the pool from the southern wall. Broken arrows, bloodstains, and a dead man wearing robes were strewn about the chamber. The arrows appeared to be cut stone in the shape of fangs, set with the symbol of a cobra with a crown above it. The body however seemed to lack any sign of an attack by arrows, but seemed to have a stab wound from a dagger. Curious about the pool I ignored the grisly scene and I quickly approached to give the pool a look. We decided to send Navarro back to the previous pool room to fill its sluice with water thinking this might prove to be its destination, or so we hoped. It wasn’t long after that the water soon appeared in this newly found sluice and began to fill the pool, and then something strange occured – the water suddenly spread out and flared with a mysterious black light! Unfortunately this is all I can recall as I blacked out thereafter. Others in the group inform me that I began acting mad soon after?…

Entry #5:
Nearly a minute later I finally came out of my mad stupor and was informed of what had recently transpired… Apparently the group opened the door to the north of the pool and discovered what appears to be Diderius’ Tomb, a twenty-foot high chamber lit by braziers with a massive stone sarcophagus atop a stepped stone dais at center. The walls decorated with life-sized frescoes showing many of the lost gods of the past. Then a few paces in they suddenly heard a voice emanating from what seemed to be the coffin, saying in a clear voice “You approach Diderius in repose. I know what you seek. Yuan-ti have taken the one called ”/characters/varram-the-white" class=“wiki-content-link”>Varram beyond their portal in the northern wall. Be prepared, for I shall open the way to peril." Then a secret door began to slide open as stone grated against stone. But that was simply the first surprise, as seconds later they suddenly came under attack from what was surprisingly lizardfolk! Having defeated the attackers we now discuss how to proceed…

The Tomb (Episode 25)

Bartock’s Journal

Entry #1:
After a short one hour rest we prepare to venture further into the darkness that surrounds us and delve deeper into the mysterious Tomb of Diderius. We are instantly drawn to the large double door that stand opposite of our resting location. The doors are plated in corroded copper engraved with what appears to be a group of wizards peering over a pool while another casts a spell or summons some unknown beast. The carving is strange yet interesting but it’s the doors present condition that has us on edge, the doors appear to be bulging outward as though some force lies beyond. We take up positions in the corners of the room flanking the doors, as Navarro prepares to open them.

Entry #2:
Shit! Navarro is lucky he didn’t get himself killed. The entire ceiling of the hall beyond is collapsed and nearly crushed Navarro when he opened the doors. Literally blew him off his feet. Looks to be impassable so we will look elsewhere for passage.

Entry #3:
Next we investigated the door to our left marked “Safe” in chalk. Beyond we discover a circular chamber with the word “Safe” written in chalk on the far wall, a well sits at the center of the chamber with a bronze bucket tied to a rope nearby. The floor of the chamber contains numerous bedrolls and other mundane supplies leading us to believe someone has recently used this location for a camp, but there is no one in sight?… The circular chamber also contains an empty stone basin about 8 feet above the floor with a brass lever protruding from the wall nearby. We attempt to fill the basin but the water seems to vanish even with the drain in the wall being closed. Strange…

Entry #4:
We eventually lowered ourselves down into the well to look for some sort of hidden passage and sure enough that is exactly what we found. Following it led under the nearby well outside in the courtyard. It was down there in the water that we came under attack from three massive trolls hiding in the water. We walked right up to one unknowingly when it suddenly burst out from the water before us, and it wasn’t long before two others appeared from the passage ahead. We were fortunate to dispose of the three without any loss of life.

Entry #5:
With our options dwindling we finally decide to check out the strangely angled hallway branching off to the southeast of the mosaic chamber in which we currently reside.

Entry #6:
A near death experience! The hall was apparently trapped. Just over half way down its nearly seventy-foot length a pressure plate hidden in the floor released a strange seven-foot diameter ball of bones. Razor sharp shards and appendages tearing into our flesh as we attempted to avoid being crushed by the rapidly approaching sphere of death. Three of us managed to jump over, or take cover in the ninety degree angle of the passages floor and wall, but Navarro and Ghidorah were not so lucky. Taken by surprise and unable to react quickly enough both found themselves somehow pulled into the revolving sphere of bone! They took an immense pounding as the runaway sphere rumbled down the passage and into the chamber beyond, but then managed to tear themselves free just before the sphere smashed into the opposite wall of the chamber beyond spraying bone fragments throughout the room. Once again we seem to have cheated death.

Entry #7:
The smell of incense fills the room and rich tapestries cover the walls of the chamber where the seven-foot bone sphere imploded upon the far wall. A chute in the south wall allows light in from the outside world lighting this dark chamber. Then upon entering an unfamiliar voice is heard to whisper “Humility proffered in the manner of Mystril shelters those opening the way to seeking knowledge”. Urso seems to think that using a holy gesture popular amongst the fallen god of Mystril may hold some value here so he proceeds to turn his head downward and raises his hands if holding a lamp but there seems to be no effect.

Hunting Varram the White (Episode 24)

Navarro’s Journal

Entry #1:
Today we depart Waterdeep in search of a dwarf named Varram the White, the White Wyrmspeaker of the Cult of the Dragon. Rumor has it that the dwarf may have lost the “white dragon mask”, and this may be our opportunity to thwart the cults plans.

Entry #2:
Ran into a traveling group of troubadours today, entertaining, but sneaky, as I caught one halfling entertainer trying to lift my belt pouch. Determined to teach that one a small lesson I quickly blinked behind him and put my rapier the back of his skull. Consider this a lesson taught as they quickly made haste and departed. Apparently we weren’t good for business.

Entry #3:
Traveled 6 days to Serpent Hills. Sights along the way are disturbing, burnt out villages and caravans lay in ruin all along the country side.

Entry #4:
Arrived at Boareskyr Bridge today, many in this tent-city seems the unsavory sort to none of our surprise. It is here that we find an establishment called Bolo’s Tent-side Inn, owned by a tough female halfling named Bolo. It is from her that we learn that a dwarf in purple robes has recently passed through the area a few days earlier, but he fled with an entourage of nearly a dozen mysteriously hooded figures after stabbing to death one of the scaled folk from the Serpent Hills. Apparently the dwarf is now seen as some sort of hero here for this killing as some believe the scaled one to be some sort of spy sent from the hills?

Entry #5:
Visited the Paladin’s Temple of Bahamut overlooking Boareskyr Bridge. Learned that there are ancient tombs dotting the Serpent Hills, perhaps it is one of these ancient sites that the dwarf Varram seeks? The Paladin’s here seem to know of an ancient legend of a divination pool in one of the tombs, but whether or not these legends are true none can say.

Entry #6:
We now depart for the valley of tombs in the hopes of finding the dwarven Wyrmspeaker, Varram, and his entourage.

Entry #7:
We now stand amongst empty sleeping bags and a smoldering campfire near a well in the valley of tombs. Seven newly dug graves lay nearby. Two broken and decaying colossal statues stand before us flanking an entrance to a tomb located high above on the face of a cliff. It appears that a small stairway leads upward carved into the side of the cliff while a ladder spans the final ten feet. We assume someone has recently entered.

Entry #8:
As we approached the cliff side stairway the grinding of stone could be heard, and to our amazement the statues had turned their heads and began to speak! They seem to warn us of dangers and a conduit of clairvoyance that lay ahead before asking if we seek Diderius’ knowledge or wisdom? I quickly gave an answer, and then the statues returned to their prior position and fell silent.

Entry #9:
After climbing cliff face stairs and ladder we discover an entry hall beautifully carved and decorated, but it isn’t long before we discover it is not what it appears. Careful inspection with our hands reveals a stone door to the back of the chamber has been forced open but an illusion covers up the fact. Carefully we sneak into the chamber beyond believing we must be hot on the trail of the dwarf we seek. The hall beyond was lined with six hooded statues. Then as I stepped forward a mysterious voice could be heard inside my mind warning me that some secrets are not meant for mortal minds to know, and to look away from the darkness in which such knowledge hides. It is armed with this information that I look down at the floor and proceed toward the door at the opposite end of the hall. Grinding of stone could be heard all around me as the statues turned their hooded heads to seemingly watch me pass, yet I refused to look up into the darkness of their hoods in fear of what might transpire.

Entry #10:
The chamber beyond the statues hall proved interesting indeed as a mosaic chimera seemed to peel itself from the floor before suddenly attacking us with its fiery breath! Thankfully we managed to defeat the strange and obviously magical two dimensional creature. Several doorway contain various markings, one of chalk reading “safe” to the north, and another double doors at our opposite end that are badly bowed outward with a copper engraving of a what looks to be a group of wizards overlooking a pool of water. A narrow passage also leads east (to our right). But we are injured and exhausted and prepare to rest in the entry to this mosaic chamber. We will investigate further after a much needed rest.

A Great Council (Episode 23)

Bartock’s Journal

Entry #1:
A mysterious raven landed before us outside the Mountain Lodge as we left today. Shocked to discover a teleportation scroll tied to the birds back with a message from Leosin attached. It appears that we have been summoned to some sort of special council meeting in the city of Waterdeep scheduled for tonight.

Entry #2:
Upon arriving in a small room with a teleportation circle etched into the floor discovered we were inside a lavish government building know as the Lord’s Palace in Waterdeep. It is here that we met Leosin who filled us in on what was going on. Apparently there is a meeting with a council of powerful leaders from the coastal regions tonight a sundown and our testimony has been requested. We are off to get some much need rest and to bathe in preparation for tonight.

Entry #3:
Traveled to the dock ward in Waterdeep this afternoon in the hopes of finding some contacts Mouse may know, apparently he use to hang out in these parts. I’m quite frankly disgusted. It smells like sewer and garbage mixed with the salty air of the harbor down here and it’s making me ill. Finally we met a man named Dorsk, an individual apparently known by Mouse, at a seedy tavern named the Dockside Dingy. He wants us to meet him a few hours after midnight. We are hoping he can connect us with someone who deals with items of great value in the black markets, in particular items of enchantment. We hope to unload two beautifully crafted pieces of armor we acquired from the white dragons hoard at Skyreach Castle.

Entry #4:
A very interesting night indeed. We were met by Leosin tonight as we arrived at the Lord’s Palace. Inside we stood before a council of 9 leaders led by none other than the Open Lord of Waterdeep, Lord Dagult Neverember. It was during this meeting that we told of what we had witnessed over the past months, and our beliefs of what is occurring across these coastal lands. All things considered I believe things went quite well although some of the council members seem more stubborn than others, in particular one very opinionated dwarf. Another shocking revelation was also discussed on this night as Lady Silmerhelve explained a disturbance upon the air this afternoon, a sign that the ancient Draakhorn has been sounded. This Draakhorn is only audible amongst the animal kingdom apparently, although people might notice an indistinct moaning when their surroundings are quiet and the wind is blows just right, but many in Waterdeep seemed to notice something amiss as dogs, cats, horses, and rats all suddenly began to act in all sorts of strange manner. Dragon’s can apparently hear this call plainly however, and it acts as a call of action for such draconic beasts, a shocking revelation to say the least! In the end we were each given writs of approval from the council to give us heightened powers to investigate further, but these writs also come with the burden of being overseen by the council, but it also comes with many resources offered by this very same council so it should be of great help. We must now decide if we wish to pursue the Wyrmspeaker Varram the White or go in search of the long lost ancient relic, the Draakhorn?

Entry #5:
Just returned from the dock ward after a very late night. We managed to meet up with a very shady character who was introduced to us by Dorsk. The man had a few items to offer for our new found armor. After a bit of negotiating we agreed on a trade along with a payment of 1,500 gold to the mysterious individual. In the agreement we received a pair of old leather bracers with arrows stitched into the edging. I agreed to take possession of these bracers as they are said to improve ones efficiency with bow and arrow. Navarro received an amazing cloak in the deal as well. It seems to have the power to blend into its surrounding when the hood is pulled over one’s head! The man referred to it as a cloak of elvenkind, not surprising givin the green colors and embroidered leaves etched throughout its design.

Entry #6:
We plan on getting a few days rest in Waterdeep before we head out in search of Varram the White, a dwarven wyrmspeaker. Harper agents have heard rumors of the theft of the white dragon mask Varram once owned, and the dwarf was last seen in the trade settlement of Boareskyr Bridge, near the Serpent Hills. Apparently Boareskyr Bridge is a major landmark constructed of black granite containing the sculpted images of a legendary battle once fought upon the bridge, but the settlement located there is little more than a way station containing a collection of tents, wagons, and caravans providing food, fresh mounts, and other services to travelers. We have also been informed of a contingent of Paladins have recently built a keep nearby to maintain watch over the iconic bridge.

Revisiting the Mountain Lodge (Episode 22)

Navarro’s Journal

Entry #1:
Shortly after killing the huge white dragon we had little time to celebrate as the scraping of small claws upon the icy cavern floor began to fill the cavern around us as nearly two dozen kobolds stormed into the chamber from various tunnels. They seemed crazed and angered, apparently deeply disturbed by the death of the massive dragon they once worshipped. We tore through them with ease and in less than a half-minute none were left standing. It’s a grisly sight to be sure.
white_dragon.jpg
Entry #2:
We’ve begun excavation into the permafrost and ice that entombs the riches that now await us. After nearly two days of digging we have amassed countless coins of copper, silver, gold, and platinum along with dozens of gems. We have also uncovered a number of items that intrigue us including some sort of potion, a finely crafted ancient longsword, beautifully designed leather armor, a pair of old dark leather bracers, an elegant longbow, and a magnificent golden trimmed small breastplate. Somehow Mouse seems to think they are all enchanted, he says his sword somehow knows this? That greatsword of his seems to reveal more about itself as each day passes. What else might it be capable of???

Entry #3:
We’ve now cut up the dragon’s remains and Mouse has collected teeth, claws, scales, and leather from its wings. We have also returned the beasts head to the cloud giant as proof of our kill. He is deeply impressed but wants to know what treasures await him now that we have taken our share. Some of us are a bit uneasy about the line of questioning, but things seem to have ended on a good note.

Entry #4:
After five uneventful days Blogathkus has dropped us off at the hunting lodge in the mountains once again. We intend on paying Talis the White another visit.
Talis.jpg

Entry #5:
We entered the lodge through the back kitchen doors this time to avoid any enchanted suites of armor trying to kill us, but the kitchen staff seemed alarmed upon our entrance. We immediately requested a meeting with Talis which was quickly granted. Soon we were escorted to the large trophy room containing numerous mounted heads of various beasts upon the walls. It is here that a large table of half-eaten food awaits us as we sit down to talk. Things went badly from there however as Talis attempted to excuse herself for a moment to retrieve something she needed, and it seemed suspicious to many of us so we got up to leave. It was then that several guards blocked our exit and words were exchange, and then swords. Talis the White quickly had the jump on us as she quickly disappeared from sight but we were equally as quick in fighting our way out and chasing her down outside the premises. From there we escorted her back into the lodge and asked her to take us to her quarters to see what exactly she felt was so important. It was there that we were shown a letter from someone named Severin, but exactly who that might be we are still unsure, and Talis seems unwilling to talk. She only offers empty threats of the fact that we have no idea what we’ve gotten ourselves into, and we simply agree. She seems a bit upset and defiant.
mtn.lodge.jpg
Entry #6:
Apparently Leech has had enough with the attitude and our internal discussions of what to do with our defiant prisoner, as he suddenly slipped his poisoned blade into her back as we returned to the trophy room. She now lies dead in a pool of blood. Guess our decision of what to do with her is a simple one now.

Entry #7:
Mouse’s greatsword Hazirawn apparently detected something in Talis’ room as he just returned with a big smile upon his face. That is until he saw the pool of blood upon the floor surrounding Talis’ dead body. It was then that the smile melted from his face in a look of shock and puzzlement.
GreatswordRed.jpg
Entry #8:
We’ve now covered this entire premises in order to uncover anything that we may have missed. Found a number of other interesting items some of which appear to be enchanted. We also discovered three prisoners chained up downstairs and have questioned and freed them.

Entry #9:
As we left the mountain lodge a raven landed a short distance in front of us and began hopping in our direction. We were surprised at how it seemed unafraid, when we suddenly noticed a small leather pouch strapped to its back. It’s apparently some sort of carrier raven, or something of the sort. Even more shocking however is when the raven began to speak!! It seems we are to take the small scroll from the raven’s back and use it to meet up with Leosin in the city of Waterdeep. We are being called to some sort of special council meeting.

New Plans (Episode 21)

Mouse’s Journal

Entry #1:
Strange!?… Something is going on I can’t explain, or perhaps I’m just losing it. I keep hearing a voice inside my head, it keeps asking my name? I feel compelled to reply but to what, myself? Out loud? Or just in my head? I need some sleep.

Entry #2:
The voice continues even after my long rest. Unsure what to make of the whole situation but it is becoming evident that it’s my new found sword! As I admire the dark blade forged from black steel I notice that it begins to takes on a crimson tint under the right lighting. Etchings across the hand-guard read “Hazirawn”, could this be the weapon’s name? I’ve heard legends about weapon so great they actually have names but have never laid eyes on such a weapon before.
GreatswordRed.jpg
Entry #3:
I’ve now practiced a little sword play with my newfound blade Hazirawn and it is amazingly light for a sword of such size, and the blade’s edge is deadly sharp, so much so that any pressure upon it’s edge in any form drawns blood. The voice in my head continues…

Entry #4:
We now prepare to meet with Blagothkus in his icy tower. As we depart we are still debating what angle to take in these upcoming negotiations. We hope to convince the cloud giant to assist us against the huge white dragon but are unsure if our attempt will be rebuked or not?

Entry #5:
Met with Blagothkus and then the two stone giants to try to garner some support. The disappointment upon Blagothkus’ face was evident when we told him we had failed to leave our mark in the first battle with the massive dragon and were forced to flee. Finally however an agreement was reached. They have agreed to borrow us four ogres and two wyverns in our upcoming plan of attack. We also agreed to one item each from the dragon’s hoard should we prove successful, along with as much coin as each of us can carry. With a deal finally struck we prepare for our second attempt. This time with what we hope is a much better plan. Tension begins to build once again.

Entry #6:
It’s a MIRACLE!!! The dragon is slain! I can’t believe what I just saw with my own eyes. The ogres carried the massive anchor and chain from the flying castle deep into the tunnels below and somehow managed to throw the anchor and chain high above as the dragon swooped past. WhiteDragon.jpg
Amazingly the throw was true and the anchor’s hook dug into the extremely hard dragon scales taking hold, the chain dragging below the great white beast. It was this chain hanging off the huge flying beast that proved to be its undoing as somehow that crazy, and often drunk dwarf Urso managed to grab hold of the chain as it swung by, and then shortly after morphed into a giant snake. I have heard of such strange magics before but never actually witnessed such things as this until I met him. But the moment was short lived however, as the dragon ripped him apart and threw him to the cavern floor, a nearly forty-foot drop. We were certain he had been thrown to his death when suddenly he morphed back into his dwarven form, shockingly still alive and uninjured!! It all seemed as though I was watching a dream from afar. Then the crazy dwarf did it all again, but this time things were different, as the massive python he now became began to wrap itself around the flying white dragon and began to constrict. Soon both plummeted to the cavern floor as the entangled dragon proved unable to maintain flight. Yet both soon proved to be still alive even after the fall, and it was there that both began the struggle for control of the situation upon the icy cavern floor. Thankfully Ghidorah stood nearby and it was then that he made his move, plunging his sword deep into the chest of massive dragon. The white dragon then took one last deep breath while we all prepared for the worst, but it never came. Instead a slow exhale followed and the dragon’s chest failed to rise again. It is with a look of shock that we all now stand silently throughout the icy cavern. But there is little time to celebrate as the sounds of small clawed feet upon the icy cavern floor begin to fill the cave around us. Kobolds coming from all directions, and there’s a lot of them!…

Frozen (Episode 20)

Leech’s Journal

Entry #1:
The time has come and we now prepare to make our way into the icy tunnels within Skyreach Castle’s glacier. Down deep below in an icy cavern we will attempt to kill a beast of legend – a white dragon! None of us has ever seen a beast such as this, with the exception of Navarro, and he has said little of his encounter with beast except that it was massive and terrifying. Some amongst us proceed with significant doubts about our plan, while others believe it’s the only course of action available to us at this time. The group is heading out. I hope to write later, the gods be willing…

Entry #2:
We carefully traversed the winding icy tunnels inside the glacial castle until we finally reached the iron piton we drove into the ground a number of days before. It was there that we tied a rope in order to carefully lower ourselves down the icy slope to the large cavern below. Navarro moved ahead first as he very quietly made his way towards the cavern entrance, but then he suddenly stopped in his tracks, seemingly unable to move. Mouse followed close behind before sliding into the dark recesses of the icy cavern wall, but it was there that he froze, seemingly unable to move from the safety of the shadows. Unaware of what the hold up seemed to be I moved forward to take a look for myself, and it was then that I began to make sense of it all, a huge white dragon could be seen in the shadows nearly forty-feet above the cavern floor, clinging to the ceiling high above. An unnatural fear began to flow over me, beginning a struggle within to fight through this crippling fright while continuing to put one foot in front of the other. Ghidorah was close behind me, but he suddenly slipped before catching his balance at the entrance to the cave, creating an echo from his heavy plate armor that clanked time and again into the distant reaches of the obviously large cavern system. And it was there that he froze, fearing what he might have done. Quickly I looked back, noticing that Ghidorah was staring at the glimmering coins and treasures twinkling within the permafrost and icy floor below our very feet. Then our first warning of things to come as the slumbering dragon forty-feet above began to stretch its wings, and small pieces of ice began to fall from the beast above, quietly descending to the cavern floor below creating an eerie orchestra of tinkling ice-crystals. We held our collective breath, left to wonder of might happen next, yet the dragon surprisingly folded its wings back to its sides, and appeared to continue sleeping. It was then that several of us quietly casted protective enchantments upon ourselves, and others nearby, before daring to step further into the cavern. Things seemed to be going our way up to that point. Then everything took a turn for the worse, as the huge white dragon suddenly unfurled it wings once more, and the deep sound of a massive inhalation of air started to fill the chamber. It was then that fear flooded my mind and goose pimples ran down my back, I knew what was next although I can’t explain why – just a gut feeling from childhood stories I suppose. Then my fears were realized as the white dragon spewed forth from its massive maw what can only be described as a hailstorm of sleet, snow, and ice upon my companions still standing at the cavern’s entrance! Visibility through it all was nearly impossible, but as the frosty breath began to dissipate the damage done was all too obvious – Navarro lay on the ground motionless, nearly frozen solid like an macabre ice sculpture, with Urso and Ghidorah standing nearby covered in permafrost and icicles, barely clinging to life. Quickly and without hesitation we ran… we ran for our very lives!

Entry #3:
We now lie deep within the tunnels inside the frozen glacier unsure of what to do next? Some believe it unwise to return to the giants having not proven our worth, yet others believe there is no other option. We’ve decide to make camp in these very same tunnels for the night in order to mend our significant frost bitten wounds. Thankfully we pulled our frozen companion Navarro to safety when we were forced to flee for our lives, and he has now begun to regain consciousness thanks to the healing powers of Urso.

Entry #4:
Now knowing what dangers lie ahead we are unsure of how to proceed, but one thing seems certain – all option seem to lead toward death…
