Age of Dragons

The Long Road Ends (Session 7)

Mouse’s Journal:

Entry #1:
We are now 6 days out from finally arriving in Waterdeep. It’s been a long and exhausting journey but we are all doing well. Today both wheel axles broke on the merchant wagon I had been riding on throughout the trip, and both snapped in the same place. Barrels of ale spilled out onto the road and the poor merchant was beside himself. Luckily others agreed to find room for a keg or two upon their wagons to help the guy out. Sabotage?

Entry #2:
Still 6 days out and it appears that I somehow avoided an attempt on my life. Beheaded my would be attacker with one quick swipe of my blade. He will no longer be a problem.

Entry #3:
Some of my would be attackers friends came by early this morning looking for their missing companion. Good Luck, we hid him well. They seem to be glaring at us often with discontent in their eyes. Maybe I should detach their heads as well.

Entry #4:
We’ve notice a small gnome hanging around the cult’s wagons. Not sure if she is connected to the group or not but something is up…

Entry #5:
Still 5 days out and Navarro and Leech seemed to have found a new friend, the small gnome who joined the caravan during the middle of our trip and was hanging around the cult’s wagons yesterday. Wonder what they’re talking about?

Entry #6:
Now 2 days away from Waterdeep after an uneventful day and night. Woke to quite a commotion today. Apparently Bartock is being accused of murder by a number of cult members because his rapier blade was the same size of the deadly wound in the man’s back. Then the situation took a turn for the worse when Navarro pointed out that he and Leech also had like-sized rapiers. They then began accusing them as well. It was getting a bit heated and messy, but thankfully many of the other merchants agreed that their was in fact no proof, just circumstantial evidence. The commotion has since died down but the cult members now look at us with great disdain in their eyes. I trust none of them.

Entry #7:
Last two days of travel were uneventful, just a few dirty looks from numerous cultists. Might have to detach all of their heads, ugly bastards!

Entry #8:
Finally reached Waterdeep tonight, day 40 of our northward trek. Exhausted! Caravan dispersed as we entered the city but we noticed many of the cultist’s wagons continued north so we followed. Several of us made a quick v-line to the stables to equip our horses as needed, but it wasn’t long before we caught up with the cultist wagons at the north gate. It was there that we noticed more wagons joining the group. We were now at a supply warehouse run by the High Road Charter Company. An old friend of mine named Ardred Briferhew seems to be in charge here, and is organizing work crews to head north to repair the roads to Neverwinter. Apparently many of these roads have fallen into disrepair over the last century since the volcanic explosion that nearly destroyed Neverwinter. I used my personal connection with Ardred to secure us a place in the next caravan which leaves tomorrow morning.

Entry #9:
The gnome, Jamna, has decided to join us as we continue to investigate the cultist wagons. She assures us that although we belong to different organizations we are on the same side and have similar interests.

Entry #10:
We are now following the man we saved from being buried in the road on our travels north. His name is Carlon Amoffel, and we believe he is a Harper, but we need to confirm this before we reveal ourselves to my like-minded allies. He has led us to a local inn where we followed him through the kitchen and into the basement. It is there that some sort of secret meeting is taking place.

Entry #11:
He is indeed a member of the Harpers and we’ve now been introduced to the other members. It has been decided that Carlon will join us on our northward journey. We’ve all been hired on as guards by Ardred.

Entry #12:
Fifteen days later we arrived at Carnath Roadhouse late in the afternoon, having survived a troll attack several days earlier, along with numerous dirty looks from the many cultists blending in with the caravan. They seem none to happy with our continued presence. The roadhouse is located along the “Mere of Dead Men”, a swampy marshland that has overtaken the road numerous times over the years. My five companions and I are sharing one room and the cultists occupy two other rooms nearby. The gnome, Jamna, is staying with other strangers in a room next to the cultists in order to keep a close eye on what’s going on.

Entry #13:
The next day we investigated the nearby storage room. There we discovered much of the cargo unloaded yesterday had mysteriously disappeared! But where too? Eventually Leech picked the half-orc bosses keys and unlocked a door adjacent to the storage room, and then kindly returned the keys unbeknownst to the half-orc. It was in this locked room we would later that day discover a secret passage under a nailed down crate. It was a narrow, slimy, wet passage around six-feet tall that lead nearly 500 yards to a stand of trees in the middle of the “Mere of Dead Men”. We now ponder whether we should stake out the area or begin tracking for anyone who may have recently used this hidden tunnel.

An Unexpected Ally (Session 8)

Navarro’s Journal:

Entry #1:
As we exited the long and narrow secret tunnel we could hear some strange gutteral language off in the distance. Unsure of what to make of it we cautiously proceed, but upon reaching the surface the voices had vanished into the thick swamplands.

Entry #2:
Water surrounds us in every direction, and the only visible land is a wet and spongy mess at best, and at worst is nothing short of knee deep water. Thankfully their seems to be markings and carvings on intermittent trees showing us the way. The path is often submerged, and without the tree markings we would undoubtedly become lost.

Entry #3:
Finally found a somewhat dry piece of land and it is nearly nightfall. Several lean-tos sit abandoned at the moment, and three tree-carved canoes sit nearby. Do we dare stay here?

Entry #4:
We were attacked early in the night by lizard-men apparently returning to their camp! Killed eight of them before the last one began to speak in broken common. Communication was difficult but it seemed he wanted to help in exchange for our assistance. Apparently he has a particular dislike for what he refers to as the “frog-men”?

Entry #5:
Next morning we head out of camp in dug-out tree canoes into the marsh. The lizard-man named Snapjaw agrees to lead the way. Once again we notice markings upon the trees as we proceed further into the Mere of Dead Men. Snapjaw seems to know where guards are posted throughout the swamp so we have managed to avoid detection thus far, or so we continue to hope.

Entry #6:
Many hours later, and stiff from extended canoe travel we arrived at an ruined castle in the middle of the swamp!? Longhouses made from reeds could be seen at the forefront of the castle and another dozen or more smaller huts spotted the boggy ground nearby. Giant frogs the size of a man stand in pools of water scattered amongst the huts! Where in the nine-hells are we?!
Castle_Naerytar.jpg
Entry #7:
We have managed to fight our way through the interior gate-house. The room was filled with large frogs and frog-men called bullywugs, at least a dozen or more combined. Battle lasted nearly a minute. We are now concerned if others further inside have been alerted by our presence?…

Castle Naerytar (Session 9)

Leech’s Journal:

Entry #1:
Once we managed to make our way past the guardhouse we quickly made our way down the long corridor before entering a large courtyard. Numerous doors led to and fro but we had little clue of which direction to proceed. It was only a few steps in that we came under sudden attack from numerous frog-men known as bullywugs. We made short work of them before Snapjaw managed to befriend several lizardfolk who had arrived during the battle. It seems he has won them over to our side somehow, but we are unsure what was said in their strange tongue?

Entry #2:
We have entered some sort of chapel and a large wooden likeness of the Queen of Darkness now looms over us. Navarro has taken on the illusion of a lizardfolk and is now kneeling before the statue in faked reverence. The lizardfolk obviously not knowing any better have followed suit.

Entry #3:
After further investigation of the area we prepared to head back out into the courtyard. It wasn’t so easy however as several dozen bullywugs where discovered to be waiting outside the door. It took very little time for the situation to deteriorate into violence. Thankfully we were able to use the doorway as a bottleneck however, and managed to control their overwhelming numbers. The place is now a bloody mess!
Bullywugs.jpg
Entry #4:
After attempting to clean the courtyard as best we could we moved to inspect the northeast tower. It was there that we found over a dozen elite lizardfolk guards and their living quarters as well as several weapon smiths. Snapjaw felt it best that we leave so we followed his advice.

Entry #5:
We’ve now entered the central courtyard tower. It was here that Navarro had nearly a dozen very large centipedes fall upon him from above the door. After we rid him of his creepy crawlies we moved inward to inspect the remaining area. This seems as though it might be a good place for a rest…

Lost Treasures (Episode 10)

Ghidoroah’s Journal:

Entry #1:
After a lengthy rest we returned to the central tower to continue our investigation. Our lizardfolk allies helping us maneuver around the guard drakes that roam the vicinity.

Entry #2:
It appears that the central tower has someone currently using it for a living quarters. Clothing mostly with a few simple and personal supplies. Most likely human?

Entry #3:
Noticed a pile of garbage filling the northwest tower piled to nearly ground level. Inside a stairway lead to several floors above. Second floor appears rotted but third floor may still be in good shape. We’ve decided to pass this area and move along to a door across the courtyard.

Entry #4:
The door near the central tower has led us to what may be some sort of great hall with tables lining the walls. Coins of all sorts and a reddish liquid in a vial are piled upon numerous tables. Looks to be a considerable amount of wealth. Nearly a dozen cultists move about the room so we need to act fast. Navarro quickly opens the conversation, acting as though we are members of the cult. Leech unerringly follows suit and it seems to be working. The cultists at first hesitate before welcoming us in as book keepers. They believe we have arrived to record the wealth that has been collected due to someone apparently skimming off the top of past treasure hauls. The ruse works perfectly and within a minute we had taken up strategic positions about the room in order to take out our enemy more effectively. They were all dead in less than a minute, I just hope no one nearby overheard the sudden burst of chaos. We now prepare to investigate the southwest tower….

The Depths Below (Episode 11)

Mouse’s Journal:

Entry #1:
Southwest tower filled with water damage, smells horrible. Inside found stairwell going up and down. Navarro believes below may be flooded by the look of things. We decide to go down anyways to look.

Entry #2:
Stairs lead to what looks to be a natural cavern system. Water pools fill some of the large chamber but some dry passages also exist.

Entry #3:
Decided to investigate pool of water. Seems shallow so we walk through to a short passage we must duck through because its only about three feet above water level. Water here is only a foot deep. Crouching through we find a another cavern flooded with a small peninsula of land jutting out. Something glitters and shines in various colors under the water at the opposite side of the room. We soon discover it’s an assortment of gems. Something else also catches our eye, looks to be an oily, wet substance on the edge of the peninsula and also on the cavern wall in the same area as these gems. Navarro gets a closer look with his torch when the slimy substance lashes out like some sort of blob! Its acidic nature causes a sizzling sound upon his armor damaging it. Then the grayish ooze slips into the water. Navarro grabs several handfuls of gems before running for the exit with the rest of our party. We have no idea what that thing exactly was but we all feel better having left its apparent lair.

Entry #4:
Followed short stairway southwest to an upper landing that soon turned south and dropped to another lower chamber filled with mud about a foot deep. Two bullywugs inhabited the room and were stirring the mud with some sort of stick. One escaped, but we managed to kill one on the short stairway down at the western end of the chamber. A small rock ledge prevents the mud from spilling down the steps but the steps are still muddy and slippery from the bullywug traffic apparently.

Entry #5:
We attempted to follow the escaping bullywug but dared not rush into the dark tunnels ahead. We will have to let him go for now. The western wall of this chamber we have discovered at the bottom of these western steps. Small holes fill the western wall of this forty-foot wide cavern, and muddy footprints lead off to the north through a ten-foot wide passage. Leech decided to investigate these mysterious holes under the lantern light provided by Mouse. A few small insects could be seen scrambling from their holes and then it happened, swarms of centipedes suddenly erupted from every crack, crevasse, and hole enveloping Leech! He screamed in horror as he ran toward the mud room covered by what must have been thousands a tiny insects. We each did what we could to clear him of the unsightly critters, undoubtedly injuring our companion in the process. He was in very rough shape by the time he dove into the mud room. Thankfully Navarro has prayers of healing, and the gods have answered those prayers.

Entry #6:
After a short break to collect ourselves we head north into the next small cavern, following the muddy bullywug tracks to a short stairway to the west. This opened into a massive cavern filled with what can only be described as an underground lake. Not even lantern light is able to reveal a shore beyond. A ten-foot path leads around the perimeter of the lake to both the north and south, and another peninsula leads straight ahead to the west into the water. Feeling uneasy with croaking sound echoing in the distant darkness of this chamber we quickly decided to follow the path north which eventually curved around to the west before exiting the chamber along the lakes northern shore.

Entry #7:
This northern passage is filled with a low lying fog about three to four feet high making it difficult to see the cavern floor in which we walk. It’s an inconvenience for most of us, but makes it almost impossible to see Navarro, the three-foot tall halfling in our group, but he doesn’t seem to mind. In fact I think he rather enjoys it, as he keeps disappearing from sight!

Entry #8:
We continue to investigate the area, and had entered yet another chamber filled with a heavy fog when we luckily noticed something etched onto the floor. It was just a quick glimpse at first, but it was enough to get a look at what appeared to be ruins in some sort of circle perhaps, but it was really tough to tell? It was then that we heard someone, or something, approaching the cavern. We had no exit, and nowhere to run, so we simply hid in the thick low-lying fog. It wasn’t long before nearly a dozen bullywugs began storming the room with spears in their webbed hands. Soon they were followed by a noticeably overweight bullywug dressed in robes who was protected by two bullywug body guards. Suddenly a thunder clap sent several of us tumbling across the room. The creature appeared to know some sort of wizardry! We had to act fast and we did, tearing into the disgusting creatures as fast as our finely honed instincts and weapons would allow, until every one of the frog-like creatures were dead. It’s already been one heck of a day…

Mysterious Discoveries (Episode 12)

Bartock’s Journal:

Entry #1:
After several attempts to figure out the carvings in the stone floor of the fog filled chamber we have decided to return to the main level above in order to rest. We agree that the room with the crude dragon statue, the one that looks more like the lizardfolk than not, it is there that we feel will most likely be the safest location.

Entry #2:
After resting we continued to explore the tower above us. It was there that we encountered numerous cultist, and Mouse nearly met his end. Thankfully we had in our possession an enchanted potion to heal his grievous wounds. These cultist showed more skill than any we had met before and at times things looked bleak. We all feel fortunate to have survived without any loss of life. We need to rest badly as many of us are badly injured.

Entry #3:
Upon the third level we discovered what looked to be someones private quarters, as it was lavishly decorated, and contained numerous statues of black dragons carved from obsidian. It is there that we discovered some robes left behind. These seemed a strange size however, leading some in our group to believe their owner might not be human? I tend to agree, as I have discovered gouges in the wood floors here from what look to be clawed feet of a bipedal creature.

Entry #4:
Ah ha! We have found something that should prove very valuable within the private chambers, notes on what seems to be some sort of magical portal, and the word “Draezir”? Could this be what we were looking for? The magical phrase to trigger the portal etched into the stone floor in the caverns below?!

Entry #5:
We quickly made a stop by the tower containing the lizardmen guards that we discovered the previous day. It is there that we discover Snapjaw along with a handful of other lizardmen still trying to perfect the art of smithing weapons. They appear to have much learning ahead of them. We decide to make our way to what we believe to be the portal below.

Entry #6:
Once again we found ourselves in the misty chamber with the strange carvings engraved into the stone floor. We had all stepped inside what we believed was some sort of circle before the word “Draezir” was spoken softly. Suddenly dark pine woods surround us on the slopes of a mountain valley; the air is cold and fresh. We stand between two large ancient stones. Three other pairs of stones stand nearby, all of them covered in moss. They are obviously very old and weathered, lichen covering most of their surface, but it’s the traces of white paint that remain embedded in several grooves on the stones that catches my eye. But as I prepared to look closer I realized something much larger before me, a large house! Stone work on the ground floor and what looks to be plaster and timbers on the upper floors. Its windows are shuddered, and the roof overgrown with moss. I’ve spotted a single door standing slightly open up ahead, but we are unsure of what to do. Smoke can be seen pouring from one of the three large chimneys.
mtn.lodge.jpg
Entry #7:
We have decided to move into the tree-line to avoid detection. Hoping to observe any strange going-ons before getting ourselves too deeply involved in whatever might be going on inside this secluded mountain lodge. Wait, I think I hear something?…

The Mountain Lodge (Episode 13)

Ghidorah’s Journal:

Entry #1:
Standing amongst the standing stones that teleported us, we quickly decided to move towards the trees for cover. From there we planned on watching the mountain lodge to see if we might be able to pick up on any comings and goings. The watch was short lived as we suddenly came under attack from two large trolls with three greenish drakes the size of massive dogs! Survived the attack and burnt the bodies of the trolls, a technique we have learned in our travels to stop trolls from rejuvenating, something we have witnessed a number of times before.

Entry #2:
We fear our presence is no longer a secret after the battle with the trolls and drakes so we decide to enter the lodge through the front door. The door is slightly ajar? A bit strange but we still decided to enter. Inside we found a stone tiled cloak room. We headed straight for the door in the opposite wall from our entry. Beyond a large hall with a sweeping stairway going to a balcony above. Two demonic looking statues flank the stairway, but it’s the two suits of elven platemail coated with chipped green paint flanking the doorway that immediately caught our eye as several of us were nearly frozen from the frigid cold that permeates in between them! Apparently someone doesn’t wan’t unwelcome visitors!

Entry #3:
One we were further into the large hall the two statues suddenly sprung to life, gargoyles! They quickly took to the air and perched above on the balcony’s bannister, while we retreated back to the cloak room to collect ourselves. Finally we stormed the hall and shattered the two gargoyles. At one point Navarro seemed pinned into a corner but we luckily managed to save his small hide.

Entry #4:
Quite injured from the conflict in the entry hall we dedided to return outside for a longer rest, but things only remained quiet for a short amount of time. Suddenly we could hear the snap of surrounding twigs and the rustle of leaves before a four armed troll burst into our midst! Trespin.jpgQuickly we took to our weapons as the hideous creature’s four arms grabbed and clawed at anyone it could get near. Rending at our soft flesh every chance that it could, but once again we prevailed. More injured than before but still alive. Thank the living gods…

The Mountain Lodge II (Episode 14)

Navarro’s Journal:

Entry #1:
We mysteriously met one of our previous companions in the woods around the lodge today!?
It’s Urso the druid!! What in the nine-hells is he doing out here? How did he get here?? Where has he been all this time??? Many questions but little time to ask.

Entry #2:
As we re-entered the lodge we were met with quite a surprise as Mouse and I nearly froze to death when we passed between the two suits of elven armor near the entry! Frozen solid for what the others describe as at least a minute or more! Thankfully we thawed rather quickly, but we have decided to move the suits of armor under the stairs for our own safety.

Entry #3:
As we began searching the interior of the mountain lodge we came upon a half-elven woman calling herself Talis. She is dressed in pure white scale mail armor and appears to be the owner of the lodge.
Talis.jpg
Feeling somewhat out of place we played the chance meeting off as an intentional, and agreed to an alliance. It seems that Talis knows of a floating castle near the mountain village of Parnast on the other side (east) of the Grey Peak Mountains. It is there that many riches have been taken from the surrounding lands, and for some unknown reason she wants us to intervene. We are unsure why, but find it best not to ask, but instead decide to play along? What are we getting ourselves into none of us can be sure, but it appears that Rezmir (the female black half-dragon) may have some sort of connection to the floating castle as Talis has confirmed her presence.
Rezmir.jpg

Entry #4:
We have departed the mountain lodge in the Grey Peak Mountains and crossed over to eastern lands. It is about a five-mile hike to the village of Parnast through forested hills, over logs and rushing creeks, and muddy trails – about a half a day’s journey. We arrived shortly before sun set and what we see shocks us: a castle carved from ice so thick to seem opaque, ice that looked to be the strength of granite, an iceberg core at the heart of the castle complex, and icy-blue towers piercing into the sky and shrouded in a mysterious hanging fog. Quickly we made our way to the to the only local business we could see, The Golden Tankard. It is there that we met the proprietor Raggnar. We were looking for any information about the Icy castle nearby, but at first the man was a bit tight lipped and quiet. But we had him talking up a storm in no time. In fact we couldn’t seem to shut him up after a short while. Even fed us some fresh roasted chickens not even on the menu!

Entry #5:
Unexpected turn of events. Urso snuck out for a short while to inspect the local area and discovered the stables locked up, but a strange roar was heard from inside. Somehow he apparently gained access and discovered two wyvern. Quickly he returned to the Golden Tankard to report his discovery. It was then that a thought suddenly occured to the usually quite fellow – the belief that the barkeep was attempting to hold us up and keep us there?!
I immediately felt convinced, and as a group we quickly made for the door. Outside the glacial castle could be seen floating in a ravine outside of town. We made a break for the drawbridge spanning the foggy moat in the distance, and beyond that an open portcullis and a covered gateway leading to what appeared to be an open courtyard. Then suddenly the drawbridge began to rise as our legs raced as fast as they could take us. We made it, barely! Large figures loomed in the gateway beyond, large stone statues of an imposing nature. I immediately spoke the words Talis had given us, “Tiamat, Our Mother and Strength”, hoping to earn safe passage. It worked!!! But to my dismay I quickly realized none of the others in our group had done the same… and as I peered up my fears were quickly realized as both large stone statues came to life and proceeded to nearly pulverize us into some sort of sickly jelly-like substance. We were forced into a hasty retreat as we made for the closing drawbridge behind us, and the statues returned to their guardian-like state. I have little doubt that we are lucky to be alive!

Entry #6:
The drawbridge has closed. With no obvious way of escape we have decided to enter once again, lesson learned…

Castle in the Clouds (Episode 15)

Mouse’s Journal:

Entry #1:
We’ve decided to send Bartock and Leech over the gate to keep watch outside the floating castle walls while me, Navarro, Urso, and Ghidorah check out the premises.
skyreach_castle.jpg
Entry #2:
The stone statues have fallen still, and after we held out our five fingers and uttered the words “Tiamat, Our Mother and Strength” they seemed to ignore our entry, thank the gods!

Entry #3:
Courtyard seems empty as darkness begins to fall. We quickly made our way across the courtyard to a lone door to our left. Inside we found several doors locked but did find one room in the area occupied. Inside two red robed wizards appeared stunned at our sudden appearance. We recognized one of them as the red wizard who joined our caravan traveling north toward Waterdeep a while back, believe he joined some of the cults wagons at the same time the small female gnome joined. We apologized quickly and went on our way, not wanting to call attention to ourselves.

Entry #4:
Discovered a spiral stairway leading up to the upper courtyard overlooking the lower courtyard in which we entered. Darkness has now fallen and we feel we may be able to avoid detection in the night, but first we must rest. We found the stairway to be the perfect spot for an hours rest only to witness Navarro suddenly walking out into the upper courtyard in some sort of quiet trance? Thinking it odd Urso decided to follow close behind. Then he saw the very same thing Navarro seemed to stare out at in the upper courtyard, a pair of glowing red eyes staring at them both from the surrounding darkness. Thankfully after a short exchange the eyes mysteriously vanished leaving them both uncomfortable, but unharmed.

Entry #5:
Found a guest room for giants unoccupied across the way in the upper courtyard. It is there that we decided to settle down for the night, a bit unnerved after being questioned by the mysterious red eyes.

Entry #6:
Upon waking the next morning the sounds of training can be heard from the courtyard outside. Further inspection revealed eight large ogres throwing spears at targets, apparently training for guard duty. We simply walk past as though we belong, hoping to draw little to no attention. It seems to have worked.

Entry #7:
We checked out three towers in the upper courtyard today. One seemed to be simply an empty cylinder with ogre guards stationed on top, but how they got up there we are unsure? Very strange but we have no answers at the moment. Another crumbling tower seems to have a door but it won’t budge? The third tower is 70 feet tall and contains four ogres guarding it inside, each is wearing a fancy plumed helmet for some unknown reason. Must have some important relevance one would think. We agree to leave them alone for the time being.

Entry #8:
Returned to the lower courtyard and discovered two stone giants. Urso did most of the talking while attempting to find out what was in the ruin covered cauldron upon their oversized table. The larger male seemed intrigued by Urso’s comment about liking giants more than dragons. Stone giant asked why? Beginning to think there may be various opinions, or groups, on this floating castle. We begin to wonder who can and cannot be trusted?

Entry #10:
Discovered kitchen full of kobold cooks, as well as sleeping quarters and mess hall for cultists all in the lower courtyard area.

Entry #11:
Things just got serious! We had discovered a cave tunnel entrance on the far side of the upper courtyard along the edge of a large glacial chunk of ice that makes up the largest portion of this flying castle. Upon entering we found ourselves winding our way through various icy tunnels deep into the bowels of the glacier. Then we came upon a pretty steep drop and I decided I would lower Navarro down with a rope attached to a carefully hammered piton. All seemed to be going well when suddenly Navarro came scrambling back up in a great bit of haste! He was muttering something about a dragon and great amounts of treasure! We all could sense his dire sense of urgency to leave the area, and we all quickly followed without question. It was then that we were able to sit down and finally get some details.
white_dragon.jpg
A huge white dragon hanging upside down from the icy cavern, massive amounts of coins and jewels embedded in sheets of ice, then the white death lunging at the small Navarro, and Navarro narrowly escaping with his life with a small flesh wound from the dragons massive jaws. We now knew we needed to get control of this castle somehow, and not getting ourselves killed in the process seem quite daunting. We needed a plan…

Fame, Glory, and Death (Episode 16)

Leech’s Journal:

Entry #1:
It turned out to be a very long and nearly deadly late afternoon today! We returned to the crumbling tower on the far side of the glacier on Skyreach Castle in an attempt to find a way inside. The lower door was still sealed shut from what we assumed must be from the inside. Unable to find a way in Bartock decided to scale the outside and although made of ice, he seemed to have an easy time of it due to the cracked facade. Once Bartock had safely reached the balcony 75 feet above on the 100 foot-tall tower Ghidorah began climbing in order to join him and that’s when disaster struck!

Entry #2:
Under both Bartock and Ghidorah’s collective weight the balcony suddenly gave way! Somehow Bartock managed to cling to the doorway high above while Ghidorah plummeted to the icy rubble now lying below, somehow managing to survive. Quickly I scrambled up the icy tower and managed to swing my leg over the threshold high above in order to make my way inside. I was then going to attempt to assist Bartock inside when I heard the crackle of footfalls on the icy floor from the shadows behind me. Quickly I turned to see a man with blood red eyes glaring fiercely with hate lunging in my direction. It quickly became obvious that the individual was driven by a deep and insatiable hunger for my life’s blood. He was undoubtedly a vampire! Desperately I attempted to fight the vile creature off as Bartock flailed about outside still clinging for his very life to the now open door where the balcony once stood.
vampire.jpg
Entry #3:
With little time to waste our companions climbed their way up as quickly as possible in order to assist. Bartock had now made his way safely inside as Ghidorah finally arrived. Inside all were shocked at what they saw, two male vampires under the control of one female vampire! All three posing an enormous threat to our well being. Several of us were bitten a number of times filling us with fear of what it might mean for our very future?

Entry #4:
Navarro managed to call upon his god, turning one of the evil creatures of the night, causing it to cower against the wall. Meanwhile we made various attempts to move the other two vampires closer to the door where the afternoon sun might burn the creatures, but that proved very difficult indeed. Desperate, and feeling likely that we all might die, Urso called upon two large eagles to assist.

Entry#5:
The large eagles had thankfully thrown one of the vampiric spawn out the door seconds earlier, yet we all began feeling that we were nearing what seemed to be our sure demise, when Ghidorah took what I can only describe as a heroic action, spotting the female vampire nearing the door and flinging himself in her direction with reckless abandoned, throwing himself and the vile creature over the threshold and falling upon the icy remains of the balcony below. It was there that the female vampire broke his grapple and staggered to her feet before miraculously beginning to run along the perimeter of the tower as the sun scorched her unholy flesh! But just as quickly we managed to run her down before she could reach the safety of the shadows. It was there that the vampire met her demise as the sun scorched its unholy flesh, turning her flesh to dust in Ghidorah’s powerful grip. Then those still above managed to destroy the remaining vampire spawn cowering from Navarro’s holy presence.

Entry #6:
Down below numerous ogres can be seen racing up the trail towards the tower. It seems Ghidorah is attempting to disarm the tense situation diplomatically. Our cover may have been blown?…
